Training the Trainer: Basic Safeguarding Awareness

Do you have a background in Child Protection and want to start offering training? 
Not sure how to run the course or want to enhance your skills? 
Running in-house training but feel your sessions could be more interactive? 
This is the course for you.
Training the Trainer course is a one day course.
To enroll on the course you must be trained to Designated Safeguarding Lead level and have been undertaking a child protection role for at least 2 years prior to enrolment.  
The course itself is designed to give attendees the confidence to deliver Child Protection training in the workplace or on their own. Being able to speak in public does not always come naturally and the course can help attendees to overcome this. 
On completion of the course, attendees will be able to deliver an interactive session on: 
  • Recognising the signs and indicators of child abuse
  • The different types of abuse
  • The legislation around child abuse
  • How to report child abuse
  • Information sharing, confidentiality and consent
  • Organisational responsibilities
On completion, delegates will receive a pack of course materials to help you run your first course.
You will receive:
  • A trainers manual
  • Safeguarding Academy for use on your website and marketing materials
  • 10 workbooks for your first course delegates
  • Course materials to help you in your first courses smoothly.
Delegates also have access to a ongoing updates and can purchase further workbooks and materials from the Safeguarding Academy.
Training is accredited for 2 years and access to the updates and materials will be available for the duration of your accreditation.

Delegates atteending this course must have at least 2 years experience in a child protection role and be trained to Designated Safeguarding Lead/Officer as a minimum (old level 3).

This course is ideal for teachers, coaching staff and those from an educational/training background as it builds on existing knowledge and skills. It is also ideal as a refresher course for trainers returning to the field.

The basic awareness course will allow you to deliver a course which covers everything Ofsted requires of a Child Protection Basic Awareness course. You’ll be able to deliver this training and offer certificates to confirm that the material covers everything required by Ofsted for this level.
